Welcome to Parsee Rustomjee Primary School.

As you enter the premises of Parsee Rustomjee Primary, you encounter a peaceful, inviting atmosphere that is conducive for the nurturing and development of our young charges.

Parsee Rustomjee Primary is a well renowned public primary school, situated at 59 Satara Road in Merebank, Durban. The school was established through a generous grant of R25000 from the Parsee Rustomjee Jivanji Gorcoodoo Trust and was officially opened on the 29 August 1964.

The school caters for learners of diverse culture and race from Grades R to Grade 7 and is a microcosm of the new South African.  At present, the school is home to 23 dedicated educators and 876 learners. Learners are welcomed from various surrounding areas such as Merebank, Wentworth, Umlazi, Lamontville and Bluff. 

Excellence and quality education form the cornerstone of Parsee Rustomjee Primary School. Although the school is 56 years old, it has been well maintained and frequently renovated to ensure that the learners and staff work in a comfortable well equipped environment. The school follows the CAPS Curriculum. The curriculum offered is aligned with the requirements of the KZN Education Department. The delivery of the curriculum is executed by well trained, professional educators who are committed to enhancing and extending the learners holistic development. The school’s magnificent track record embodies the names of many prominent individuals who have passed through the gates of the school.

Mr. RS. Lalla is the present principal who ensures that quality teaching and learning prevails at the school. The large number of articles that have appeared in the local newspaper highlighting the successes of the school and the respect that the community has for the school as an institution, bears testimony to a school that strives for innovation and excellence.

We are proud of the calibre of learners that exit the school. Our learners have made valuable contributions to society by utilizing their innovative ideas to build a better South Africa and to forge ahead in this highly competitive world.

The school has a modern air-conditioned, well resourced media centre that assists learners with further curriculum development. Lessons incorporate the use of information technology, multimedia resources and a wide variety of reading materials. The school boasts a colorful jungle gym that caters for the development of gross motor skills in the Foundation phase learners. Spacious grounds provide adequate space for outdoor activities. Netball, Soccer, Cricket and Athletics are some of the extracurricular activities that are offered. Learners have ample opportunities to participate in external competitions. A well constructed shelter provides learners with a cool comfortable place to sit and wait for their transport.

An after care facility is provided on the premises for parents who want their children to be gainfully occupied in a supervised environment, as they wait to be picked up after school.

The school buildings currently comprise of 22 classrooms, a media centre, administration block, sick room and ablution facilities. The school has a fully functional tuck shop.

Parsee Rustomjee is proud to be a forerunner in the community with regards to curricular, co-curricular and extra activities. This prestigious institution has strong foundations that have been laid by past and present principals and staff.  We are confident that this legacy will be carried forward in the years to come.
